A good example of an antique Windsor Bar-Back carver chair dating from the late 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat with curved arms supported by turned spindles. It has a gently sloping back with central bar support and it stands on ring turned legs joined by a H-stretcher.
The chair stands approximately 37" (94cm) high and it is 21 1/4" (54cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 18" (46cm) deep and 17 3/4" (45cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age and it is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use and some minor marks and light knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental and it has a lovely patina. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
