A beautiful burr walnut stationery box dating from the late 19th Century. It has two brass carrying handles and the top lifts up to reveal a padded leather pen holder. The front then folds down to reveal the inner letter racks, pen tray and glass inkwell. There is a drawer below with a recessed military style handle. The front has a lovely leather surface which provides a nice sloped writing surface when the front is down.
It is in good condition throughout and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside and a small repair to one side. There is some wear to the leather inside and a small hole in the lid lining. There are some old ink stains and other general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental or untoward and overall it displays very well. It does not come with a key.
