A good example of an antique silver capstan style inkwell. It is a stylish and good quality piece with a beautiful tortoiseshell lid inlaid with fine floral swag and wreath decoration. It has a large round weighted base with an oak bottom and it comes with a small white ceramic liner.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham, 1912, Elkington & Co.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are no major damages, just some faint surface marks, a few light scratches and minor dinks but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
