Antique Silver Topped Whiskey Noggin
A good example of an antique glass whisky noggin, made to hold a couple of measures of whisky to take to bed to aid sleep. It is a conical shape with an applied handle and a star cut base. It has a sterling silver collar and hinged lid, the lid faintly engraved with a stag motif.
The hallmark on the collar is quite worn and not fully readable however below the lid is a clear hallmark for James Deakin and Sons and the piece is likely to date to the early 20th Century.
It is in good condition for its age and there are no cracks or major damages to the glass. The silver is in good order with a few small dinks and surface marks but nothing detrimental and the hinge is strong. It has been cleaned and the silver gently polished and it is ready for use.
