Antique Silver Mounted Oak Box
A good example of an antique oak box with silver mounts. The top has a central silver cartouche hallmarked for Birmingham, 1912, W.J.Myatt & Co and matching silver corner pieces. It has a push catch which opens to reveal a silk lined interior. Possibly once for gloves it would also make an excellent watch or jewellery box.
It is in very good condition for its age. The interior is generally clean and tidy however there is some wear and fraying to one edge of the silk lining. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside of the box and a couple of small surface marks and light dinks to the silver but nothing detrimental and overall it displays well. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
