A good example of an original Victorian brushed silk Top Hat with felt band dating from the late 1800s. The hat is lined with a leather band and the interior is marked with the maker's name "A.J.White Ltd. Hatters & Cap Makers. 73&74 Jermyn St. St James's" .
The hat is in good condition for its age but there are some signs of use and the interior has worn and frayed in places and there is some rubbing and wear to the felt band but overall it displays well.
The inner circumference is approx 55cm which translates as a size 6 7/8.
The hat comes in a fitted box with a leather carrying handle and a lined interior with elastic straps. The box is possibly not original to the hat and likely dates a bit later but it is a good fit and displays well.
