A good example of an original 19th century naval 'Powder Monkey' used for transporting gun powder from the ship's hold to the cannons. It has a painted canvas exterior on a wooden frame with a leather handle and the Royal Navy coat of arms on the front.
It is in very good condition for its age with a beautiful patina. There are some general marks and scuffs and some losses here and there but nothing untoward for a piece like this and the coat of arms is bright and vibrant. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.
