A beautiful antique writing slope made of the finest rosewood with an inlaid brass border and mother of pearl escutcheon and cartouche.The sloped front folds down to reveal a purple velvet writing surface. The top section lifts up to reveal a pen tray and a brass topped inkwell. The writing surface itself lifts up to reveal extra storage below and there is a wonderful hand written note on the wood with various names, an address and "Edinburgh".
The box is good quality and
in good condition for its age. There are some signs of age and use, some small marks and knocks and small chips here and there but no major damages. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and it displays very well inside and out.
