A fine example of a beautiful Rosewood box dating from the early 19th Century. It has a mother of pearl inlaid escutcheon and matching cartouche and it comes with a working key. It was most likely once a sewing box but it has now been relined with a beautiful fitted jewellery tray with blue silk lining. It has two ring sections and the centre compartment lifts out to reveal an additional lined storage area below.
It is in good condition for its age and has been very well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and overall the piece displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
