Antique Rosewood Inlaid Stationery Cabinet Box
Superb example of a high quality 19th Century stationery box with fitted interior. The box is made of the most beautiful rosewood with fine strips of brass inlay and moulded carved edges. The front and top lifts up to reveal a series of racks and compartments for holding papers and stationery. There is also a pen rest and a small writing slab. The sides swing out using a secret catch to further open up the box and reveal two small lidded compartments.
It is superbly well made and although it has been used it has obviously been very well looked after over the years. It is in excellent condition and displays beautifully. There are some minor signs of age and use and some small repairs to the brass inlay but nothing detrimental. I believe the box would have probably come with two writing slabs but it does now only have the one. Please also note that I do not have a key for the box.
