Product Details
A lovely oak desk chair dating from the early 20th Century. It is a good comfortable chair and very well made with a thick shaped elm seat. It has a curving back supported by shaped splats with two scrolling arms. It has four splayed legs and swivels on a large bolt.
There is a retailer's plaque on the back of the chair for "Popham, Bradford & Co. Complete House Furnishers. Plymouth".
It is in very good condition for its age. It has developed a lovely aged patina and is structurally very sound. It is not without a few small marks here and there but nothing detrimental. There are signs of historic worm in one leg which has all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically. The swivel mechanism is in good strong working order with minimal play for a chair of this age.
It is approximately 34 1/2" (88cm) high and the arms are 24" (61cm) wide. The seat is approximately 18" (46cm) high and 20" (51cm) deep
