Antique Oak Captains Chair
An attractive and good quality 'Captain's' elbow chair dating from the early 20th century. It has a comfortable wide and deep seat with a curving back supported by turned spindles and a nicely carved motif around a hand hole on the back of the chair. It stands on turned legs joined by turned stretchers.
It is approximately 31 1/2" (80cm) high and it is 23” (58cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 18" (46cm) deep and 17 1/4” (44cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. It has developed a lovely rich patina and is a strong and sturdy chair. The chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and no major damages. There are some signs of historic worm in one arm (see photos) which has all been treated as a precaution. The chair has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
