A superb example of a French box dating from the mid 19th century. The burr walnut box is beautifully inlaid with a variety of woods and an ornate inlaid brass cartouche with engraved initials 'G.S'.
Inside the box is lined in a pale blue satin and it comes with a working key.
It is in very good condition for its age and the interior is clean and tidy. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside of the box, some minor chips and some general signs of age and use but nothing detrimental or untoward. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
