A lovely mahogany pedestal desk dating from the early 20th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole although the left hand drawer fronts actually open to reveal a shelved cupboard. Each drawer has brass knobs and the pedestals stand on plinth bases with castors below. It has a good quality maroon leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk is in good condition for its age and it has a lovely rich patina. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks, light surface marks and small shrinkage splits but nothing untoward or detrimental. The desk has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
