A nice example of an adjustable tabletop reading stand dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of mahogany and the height and angle of the reading stand are adjustable using the threaded nuts at the back of the stand. It stands on a turned foot and has a lip for supporting the books.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. All the parts move well and the mahogany has a wonderful rich patina. There are of course signs of age and use, some small knocks and surface marks but no major damages or anything detrimental.
