A nice example of an adjustable tabletop reading stand dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of mahogany with the most beautiful fretwork carved design. The angle of the reading stand is adjustable using the arm at the back and there are brass fingers to hold the book in place. The whole piece folds flat for easy transport.
It is in very good condition for its age and is strong and sturdy. All the parts move well and the mahogany has a wonderful rich patina. There are of course signs of age and use, some small knocks and surface marks and a couple of old repairs but no major damages or anything detrimental.
