A lovely leather covered writing box dating from the early 20th century. The box has an inset carrying handle on the top and there is a metal key escutcheon on the front of the box. It comes with a working key.
It opens to reveal a large blotting pad below the lid, a small inkwell, pen tray and a lift up leather section with a small letter rack section on the back.
The box is in good condition for its age. The leather is in good order with a little bit of wear along the edges but no major damages or marks and it has a lovely patina. Inside, it is generally clean and tidy with a few small marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. Overall the box displays very well and is certainly a nice usable item.
