Antique French Fruitwood Extending Dining Table
A good example of a French extending dining table, dating from the mid 19th Century. The table has a beautiful planked fruitwood top and stands on four turned legs with brass castors. In its smallest form it makes a circular table, approximately 135cm in diameter. Each half of the table pulls apart on a concertina mechanism and it comes with an additional leaf which extends the length up to 193cm long.
The table is in good condition for its age with a beautiful patina and a lovely warm colour. There are signs of age and use, some marks and knocks and some old repairs here and there but nothing untoward. It has suffered extensively from woodworm over its life and there are many old holes but it has been throughly treated and the table is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
