Antique Elm Windsor Chair with Crinoline Stretcher
A good example of a Windsor chair dating from the mid 19th century. It has a low hooped back enclosing tapering spindles and a pierced back splat. It stands on ring turned legs joined by a crinoline stretcher. It has a superb shaped elm seat with a wonderful grain.
It is in good original condition and it has developed a lovely rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some light marks and knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There has been an old repair to the top of one leg but it has been done well and is strong and sturdy. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
The chair stands approximately 35" (89cm) high, the seat is 14 1/2" (37cm) deep and 17" (43cm) high and arm to arm the chair is 21" (53cm) wide.
