An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchair dating from the late 19th century. It has a comfortable wide and deep elm seat, beautifully shaped with a wonderful grain. It has broad arms, turned spindles and stands on turned legs joined by a stretcher.
It is approximately 30 3/4" (78cm) high and it is 26” (66cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 18 1/2" (47cm) deep and 17 3/4” (45cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. It has developed a lovely patina and is a strong and sturdy chair. The chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental.
