Antique Elm Captains Chair
An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchair dating from the late 19th Century. It has a comfortable wide and deep elm seat with broad arms, turned spindles and turned legs joined by a double stretcher. It is stamped with the makers initials "W.D" on the rear of the seat. It is a pleasant mellow colour with a lovely grain on the seat.
It is approximately 30 1/4" (77cm) high, 18 1/2" (47cm) deep and it is 24" (61cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 17 3/4" (45cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age. It has developed a nice aged patina and is a strong and sturdy chair. The chair is not without a few small marks and knocks and signs of age and use but no major damages and nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
