Product Details

A lovely leather covered writing box dating from the early 20th century. The box has an inset brass carrying handle on the top, a brass escutcheon on the front of the box and it is nicely decorated with gilt lining.

It opens to reveal two writing pads and a pen tray. The lid is lined in a green silk which can be folded back and used as a writing surface. There is also a pen tray and a glass inkwell. The bottom part of the box folds out further to reveal extra storage and a series of letter racks and pen holders.
The box is in very good condition for its age. The outer is in good order with a little bit of wear along the edges and a small split by the handle but no major damages or marks and it has a lovely patina. Inside, it is generally clean and tidy with a few small marks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It does not come with a key but overall the box displays very well and is certainly a nice usable item.
