A good example of a beautiful brass bound box dating from the mid to late 19th Century. The box itself is made of a beautiful burr wood, Walnut or possibly Oak. It has brass bound edges, an inlaid brass escutcheon and matching cartouche and inset military style brass handles. The box comes with a working key.
The interior has been relined in green and a sectioned tray has been made providing 20 removable sections. The tray lifts out to reveal an additional lined and sectioned storage area below, with larger sections than the tray. Perfect for a collector's box or jewellery box.
It is a good quality piece and it's in very good condition for its age. There are some minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and the wood has a beautiful colour and patina. The interior is clean and tidy and overall it displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
