A very nice example of a grand tour style desktop thermometer dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. The glass mercury thermometer sits in a brass mount with an engraved Fahrenheit scale. This is held between two classical style gilt brass columns with a blackened steel base and roof.
It is in good condition for its age. There is some tarnishing and the brass has been lightly polished to retain its natural aged patina and it displays very nicely. There are some small marks and light surface scratches but nothing detrimental. It appears to be accurate and in working order.
