Product Details

An early 19th century boxwood pill silverer. The removable top is secured with four lugs and the whole piece stands on a stepped circular foot.

These pill silverers were used by apothecaries, having made their pills, they would be moisturised with mucilage of acacia and then put in these containers with a silver leaf, gently rolling the pills within, which would coat them ready for storage in a bottle.

It is in very good condition for its age with no major damages. It has developed a beautiful colour and patina through years of use. There are some minor knocks and marks but nothing detrimental and it displays well.
