Product Details
A lovely set of antique balance beam scales dating from the mid to late 19th century. The scales are made of brass with two brass pans suspended by chains. They stand on the top of an ebonised box with a drawer which stores parts of the scales and weights.
The pans and beam are stamped with the maker "P.Sessanta" and various warranted stamps and marks.
They come with various antique brass weights measuring in troy ounces and dwts.
The scales are in good condition and display well. The brass has tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor marks on the box but nothing detrimental. Although complete, they are really being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
