Product Details

A lovely Anglo-Indian porcupine quill box dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. The structure of the box itself is an ebonised wood, decorated with small white circles of bone. The outer of the box is decorated with porcupine quills in different black and white patterns. It has a lift out tray with 9 individual lidded compartments, each also decorated with inlaid bone circles. The inside the lid is decorated with a pretty inlaid floral pattern and the box comes with its original working key.

The box is in good condition for its age and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are some small losses to the inlaid bone circles and some minor damage to some of the quills. There have been a few old repairs and there are of course signs of age and use but nothing detrimental and overall it displays well.
