A beautiful 1920s horn speaker manufactured by BTH (British Thomson Houston). This speaker was an early accessory for wireless radios which allowed the sound to be heard by the whole family rather than just one person through headphones.
This distinctive retro design features an aluminium swan neck horn, a painted horn bell and a bakelite base. It has the remainder of its original BTH logo inside the horn and it is marked "BTH" below.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There is some tarnishing and minor pitting on the aluminium and some wear to the paint around the horn but no major damages. One of the small Bakelite lug feet is missing however this does not affect its stability. I have tested the wiring with a small battery and it does produce a static noise reaction from the speaker however it is really being sold as a decorative item.
