Product Details

A good example of a large English oak dresser base dating from the mid 18th Century. It stands on four turned front legs with two square back legs. It has a two plank top with moulded edge above three deep drawers with moulded fronts, brass escutcheons and brass swan neck handles. The handles are not original but suit the piece well.

It is in good condition throughout and is strong and sturdy. It is not without some signs of age and use and some minor stains and marks on the top surface but this has all helped to develop a beautiful rich patina over the years. The drawers are generally clean and tidy inside and open smoothly. There have been some old repairs over the years but nothing detrimental or untoward. There are some signs of historic worm in the back boards which has been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. It has been given a thorough clean and light polish and is ready for the home.
