Product Details

A beautiful tub shaped captain's chair dating from the late 19th Century. It is a good comfortable chair with a mahogany fame and a deep overstuffed seat. It has a curved upholstered top rail supported by turned spindles with beautifully carved scrolling arms. It stands on turned front legs and splayed rear legs, terminating in brass castors.

It has been upholstered in red leather-look fabric with brass studded edges and a buttoned back. The fabric is in very good condition with a little bit of wear and a few marks but nothing detrimental. It would be a very comfortable desk chair but could also be a nice library or hall chair.

The chair is in good condition for its age and has developed a lovely aged patina. The castors have been replaced at some point but the chair is structurally very sound with a sturdy frame. There are some signs of age and use, some knocks and marks around the legs but no major damages or anything detrimental.

It is approximately 30" (76cm) high and 24" (61cm) deep. It is 24" (61cm) wide across the widest part of the chair. The seat is approximately 19" (48cm) high.
