A lovely mahogany pedestal desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole although the left hand drawer fronts actually open to reveal a shelved cupboard. This cupboard door is lockable and comes with a working key. Each drawer has brass knobs and the pedestals stand on plinth bases with castors below. The top has a beautiful inset green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk is in very condition for its age and it has a lovely rich patina. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside with a few old marks and splits but nothing untoward. There are normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks and light surface marks but no major damages and nothing detrimental. The desk has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
