Product Details

A good example of an East Anglian Bentwood Seed Lip dating from the 19th Century. This went around the Sower's waist and hung from a neck strap using the lug hooks. The seed could then be cast by hand as the Sower walked. The body is made from steamed bentwood with a wooden grip handle.

It is in good condition for its age and it is rare to find a wooden example that has survived rather than a later galvanised version. There are some minor splits (see photos) and general signs of age and use but it is strong and sturdy with a lovely patination.
