Product Details

A lovely matching pair of stacking bookcases dating from the early 20th century. They are made from mahogany with four glazed sections. The bottom section is deeper and taller than the top three and they stand on plinth bases. Each section has two hinged doors with small brass ring handles and there is a key which is able to lock some of the doors.

They are very good quality pieces with a lovely colour and patina. There is a maker's label inside one door which reads "The 'Oxford' Sectional Bookcase. Sole Proprietors & Manufacturers. Wm Baker & Co Ltd. Oxford"

As is typical with these pieces, each section can be split down so it can be easily transported. They are currently held in place by screws so they are a very solid construction once together.

They are in very good condition for their age and display beautifully. They are not without some minor knocks and marks but no major damages or anything detrimental. The bookcases have been cleaned and gently polished and are ready for use.
