Product Details

A superb Georgian oak dresser base dating from the mid 18th Century. It has a thick planked top with an unusual upstand along the back edge and a lip for standing plates in front of it. There are three drawers above two cupboard doors and a central matching panel. The drawers and cupboards have beautifully chamfered edges with panelled centres and all have wooden knobs which, although are not original, have been on the piece some time and suit it well. The cupboards open to reveal a plain interior with boarded floor and the drawers are lined in green felt.

It is an excellent quality piece with richly coloured timbers and all of the mouldings are well made. It has been well maintained and there have been some small repairs and restorations over the years but nothing untoward and it is likely the back boards have been replaced at some point in its life.

It is in very good condition for its age. It is generally clean and tidy inside and is strong and sturdy. There are of course signs of age and use, some knocks and marks and minor old splits here and there but nothing detrimental and it displays beautifully. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
